‘Fearless Girl’ turns up at McCann Bristol and secures work placement

Our industry is powered by mavericks prepared to go beyond the expected to deliver dynamic messages in unexpected ways. Yesterday, McCann Bristol witnessed such an example of this when fearless advertising graduate Jade Delaney, recreated our network's iconic global campaign, 'Fearless Girl', on the steps of our Bristol office.
Adorned head to toe in gold, Ms. Delaney, an aspiring copywriter and graduate from the University of Gloucestershire, contacted the agency’s Managing Director, Andy Reid, via LinkedIn with the message: “Today, I will be arriving outside McCann adorned in gold. Advertising, meet the #FearlessGirlBristol.”
By mid-morning, Jade delivered on her promise and arrived at our offices dressed as 'Fearless Girl'. Her bold move peeked the curiosity of Andy and Jon Elsom, Group Creative Director, but above all else, her portfolio impressed the duo, resulting in them offering her a 1-month paid work placement in the creative department.
Andy said, “We are lucky enough to be inundated with the CVs of graduates who are looking to take their first step on the career ladder. Jade has been brave enough to stand out from the crowd, which is a fantastic trait for anyone starting a career in advertising.”
“It’s pretty tricky getting noticed by employers when you’re a graduate, so I decided to turn into a statue for the day to emulate one of McCann’s most iconic campaigns,” Jade said.
She added, “It’s fantastic to be offered a placement at McCann Bristol, and hopefully I’ve also helped to highlight the power of young women in advertising.”
‘Fearless Girl’ was created by McCann New York on behalf for State Street Global Advisors and unveiled on International Women’s Day in 2017 in the financial district of NY. NY City just announced a permanent placement for the statue across from the NYSE.
